The inspiration for this painting came from two sources. In 1995, when I first started a series of geometric shapes, the titles always had Jazz in it. The circles and color palette come from another painting I saw, which I've embellised with even more chroma and patterns.

Red Red Wine is a favorite reggae song, almost instantly I'll relax to listen and sing along. The inspiration for this painting came from a trip to Italy. We were lost somewhere in Rome, but it didn't really matter because we were soaking up the sights. Around a corner, the pantheon appeared. A gentleman called us over for a table and we sat for some red red wine to gaze upon the historic 2,000 year old structure.

Red layers of glaze over top a thick underpainting of oil paint features hints of geometric shapes and patterns. Listening to music in color theory at SCAD, I created shapes to embellish the musical story of Beethoven. Now when I listen to music, I'll paint abstract geometric shapes and patterns calling it part of my jazz series.
