Thursday, on the Ides of March 2012, Lisa Bisbee paints en plein air capturing the movement and music of the pendulum swinging through time keeping Pollock Street of New Bern on schedule in front of Studio 323, home of New Bern Artworks Gallery.
The four facing clock has a story of becoming the leaning tower of Baxter's clock when an automobile in the 1970's crashed into the support pole. When a crane pulled the top to re-align, the structure broke into pieces. Swiss Bear's Susan Moffat Thomas shared the saga of the clock with Lisa Bisbee. The City of New Bern collected donations into the thousands of dollars to commission someone in the midwest to put the historic piece of Baxter back together again. Below the faces of clock in the small glass-plated rectangle about waist-high, the pendulum swings keeping time with a humming repetition.
